Review of Crazy Rich Asians (2018) by Jan S — 23 Aug 2018
Loved it! There are changes in the plot, and they work. In fact, might actually like the movie better than the book. The actors are great. Can hardly belief this is Henry Golding's first movie. He is charismatic as Nick Young, and Constance Wu is wonderful as his girlfriend, Rachel.
She made the character both believable and admirable. She was better than I had imagined when reading the triology. (Yes, there's more!) Have to commend Michelle Yeoh for her icy, subtle portrayal of Nick's mother.
All the cast was great, with one exception ... sorry to say but the character of Astrid was very cold. Just did not connect with the audience. But she was not a major player in this first film of the trilogy.
Other than that, everyone associated with the film deserves credit - wish I could mention all the characters I loved on screen. Better yet, go see it for yourself!
