Review of Crazy Rich Asians (2018) by Linda H — 24 Aug 2018
This is about as off as I've ever seen the Tomatometer. A 93% should mean this is one of the best movies of the year rather than one of the worst movies of the decade. It's derivative, poorly acted, and completely predictable.
I've seen this theme, the gimmicks, and this Hollywood ending dozens of times. Nothing original, no surprises, no tension, no character development. It is clicheed and caricatured. A few points for the lead actor performance.
He was, at least, pleasant. My wife and I considered leaving after about 20 minutes. we didn't only because the Tomatometer lead us to expect a better movie and we hoped it would improve. No such luck.
I don't know what the critics were thinking because this is 100% dud.
