Review of Crazy Rich Asians (2018) by Iheartfilm F — 25 Aug 2018

Going into Crazy Rich Asians, I had extremely high expectations, and on the representation front, it did not disappoint one bit. But the unfortunate fact about this film, is that besides the refreshing diversity, it's quite boring and simple.

Constance Wu and Henry Goulding were both good as the two main characters and the supporting cast was enjoyable as well, but their talent can't save the movie from it's predictability and lack of originality.

The hilarious Awkwafina absolutely stole the show for me, making the scenes she are in, a pure delight. The visuals were dazzling, but only one or two made me go, "wow, that's gorgeous." In the end, Crazy Rich Asians is a mildly entertaining, very diverse, and sometimes hilarious rom-com that is better to watch on the plane or on rent.
