Review of Crazy Love (2007) by Richard S — 19 Oct 2007
I was under the false impression that this documentary revisited "The Honeymoon Killers" and a recent Spanish language film. Nope. It's about the nice lawyer who decides to hire some thugs to toss a little acid in his girl's face. The subject matter is compelling, but the film runs out of steam in the final act. Once the shocks are revealed there's nothing to keep the audience watching. There's also a decided step down in the music selection. We go from Kenneth Anger-esque 50s pop selections to a mediocre cruise ship singer.
The film presents a man who looks like Anton LaVey's henchman, but manages to end up happily married. Maybe that's enough to justify spending 90 minutes with it. Your choice.
