Review of Crazy Love (2007) by Cedric R — 11 Jan 2009
Crazy Love is a documentary about a man (Burt Pugach) who becomes infatuated with a woman (Linda Riss) and decides that if he canâ??t have her, no one will. Their relationship which started in 1959 takes twists and turns that boggle the mind.
The documentary consists of interviews with Burt, Linda and people who knew them mixed with pictures and film footage of them through the decades along with stock pictures and film from the various periods.
While the documentary style is average at best, the story of the relationship between Burt and Linda and the actions taken by each is absolutely fascinating. I wish the movie had delved more into the individual psychology of both Linda and Burt, and the phenomenon of infatuation.
Instead, the filmmakers stay out of the way, and pretty-much let Burt and Linda tell their sides of the story. The editing is carefully constructed and does an excellent job of pacing the viewer through the story.
This is a fascinating movie.
