Review of Crazy Heart (2009) by Ryan L — 18 Jan 2011
A standard story but told in a good way. Great performance from Jeff Bridges who definitely deserved his oscar. Maggie Gyllenhall however gives a dull performance. Supporting cast is pretty good, especially Colin Farrell as Jeff Bridges more successful protege and child actor Jack Nation as Gyllenhall's son.
The music is strong, the cinematography is beautiful and the screenplay is good. However the movie does have some pacing issues, especially towards the end.
