Review of Crazy Heart (2009) by Justin V — 09 Jan 2012
It's been awhile, I know. but I haven't forgotten and will get back into the reviewing thing soon enough. expect to see reviews from such films as: shutter island, alice in wonderland, brooklyn's finest, she's out of my league and green zone. hope everyone's been checking out some films recently. let me know what you've liked/disliked in the past few months.
Btw, I was able to see crazy heart sometime ago and this review posted over a month ago, but I should let you know plainly what I thought of it. honestly, crazy heart could've been a much better film. it is well-acted and jeff bridges is more than deserving of his best actor oscar. but the story itself isn't stellar and this was released too soon after the wrestler. I feel that the wrestler is a better, more earnest film, that rendered a great film thanks to the "art imitating life" storyline involving oscar nominee mickey rourke.
Between the two I would say opt for the wrestler but many people won't be able to get past the whole wrestling thing. at least with crazy heart it deals with music, and I don't know anyone who doesn't enjoy music. take in both films and decide for yourself. one thing is certain - jeff bridges is the man, and he is bad blake.
