Crazy Beautiful: A Beautiful Place.

Rating:4 stars.

The movie Crazy Beautiful is directed by John Stockwell. The well-known stars are Kristen Dunst, Bruce Davison and Jay Hernandez. Kristen Dunst played as Nicole, Bruce Davison as Tom Oakley along with Jay Hernandez as Carlos. This movie falls into the dramatic romance genre and takes place in Los Angeles, California during 2001.

Crazy Beautiful is about Nicole, a young teenager who?s disturbed and doesn?t get along with her father. Nicole doesn?t care about life and basically she believes she can do what she envisions as right. In essence, Nicole isn?t concerned about what people think regarding her behavior or her approach in life. She soon meets Carlos, a strong-minded Hispanic young man whose endeavors primarily focus on becoming successful. Carlos and Nicole developed a well-built relationship as he brings meaning into Nicole?s life.

One aspect of filmmaking that I approved of was the acting. The acting was excellent due to the well played roles of Jay Hernandez and Kristen Dunst. This was primarily a result of great direction on behalf of John Stockwell. Nicole performing similar to a real teenager highlights problems many teens endure today. Although, I do not think Nicole?s crying was realistically portrayed; I thought it looked very fake. It made me giggle because I thought she was laughing at one point.

In addition, Carlos exhibits how tough it is to obtain a proper education from another school faraway from his house. He?s dedicated and posses all the skills to become a leader. One scene in which his acting is done at its best is when?. Carlos takes a long bus ride from his house to school. He had to wake up 5:30 in the morning to be in school by approximately 7:00am.

Furthermore, the costumes the stars wore in the movie were very moderate and fitted their characters roles effectively. I liked Nicole?s wardrobe because it actually showed that she didn?t care about what people say or think about her. The costumes were well selected to mirror the character personalities. Meanwhile, Carlos dressed cleaner than Nicole which stunned me because he came from a middle class Hispanic family and Nicole from a wealthy sophist acted family. I would have expected it to be the other way around. As for a wealthy man, Tom Oakley appeared well dressed all throughout the film, reflecting exactly what a professional, as a congressman, is supposed to appear.

In my opinion, I would definitely recommend this film to others because it shows how people fall in love with each other no matter what the situation is (in this case different cultural backgrounds) people obtain an epiphanies I their encounter with others. Besides, the movie had good quality. As well, I like how everything thing flowed (story line with the film elements) together. I never lost interest and was engaged throughout the movie. Finally, Crazy Beautiful deserves four thumbs up!
