Review of Crazy (2013) by Matthew A — 19 Nov 2010
Netflix instant queue... I wuv you for recommending this. But what does it say about my movie taste that even Netflix knows I would most likely enjoy a campy Canadian gay kid 'coming of age' flick? I swear I've seen Zombieland.
Anyway, it was excellent. Every casting choice was brilliant, especially Marc-Andre Grondin as Zac and wide-eyed Emile Vallee as his 6 yr old self. Set in the 60's-70s-80s - the progression and maturation of his character was entrancing (almost as much as his hair) The music - a mix of the traditional French crooners of the previous generation to 60's rock and roll into Ziggy Stardust was outstanding. I was entranced by this peek into the Beaulieu family and was disappointed the ending was so abrupt. And Zac's last hairstyle was unforgivable.
Absolutely one of the best in the genre.
