Review of Cracks (2009) by Mark H — 13 Nov 2010
Mesmerising but light. The performances are the highlight of this film, particularly Eva Green as the boarding school teacher, Miss G, whose carefully maintained clique of girls is unbalanced by the arrival of a new girl.
The actual plot is quite slight, but the locations, the acting, the pacing and the underlying tensions maintain interest. The cinematography is also very beautiful (and let down by the poor blu-ray transfer).
8/10.
