Review of Cracks (2009) by Michelle R — 04 Mar 2011
Absolutely lovely, even if most people tend to dislike it. I really love movies showing life in boarding schools and this had a very interesting plot - showing the nature of obsession and desire, and how far they can take you if you don't know where to stop. Also shows how jealousy and fear affect us when we are forced to take another look at our lives.
Jordan Scott (daughter of Ridley Scott) handled her material very well, and directed her actors brilliantly, since everyone (Eva Green the most) give powerful performances. I thought the photography/cinematography was excellent, and so was the music.
I enjoyed this movie quite a lot. It's bold and dynamic - has a lot of intense and saddening moments.
