Review of CQ (2001) by Sean C — 17 Apr 2008
I really enjoyed this movie. It definitely is a love letter to movies that Roman Coppola loves. Most obvious of all is Mario Bava's Danger Diabolik and the films of Jean Luc Godard, but I also see a great influence of his father, Francis Ford Coppola's more personal films like The Conversation.
Lots of homages to things his father must have described to him from the 1960s with working for Roger Corman or even starting his own film company. Roman Coppola probably witnessed many of these instances.
I am really looking forward to a second film from him.
