Review of Courageous (2011) by Andy S — 20 Feb 2012
This is one of those special occasions when MANY people will think I am nuts for lavishing such praise on a normally sub-par film. This film to me, however, is the exact message I needed to hear at this point in my life as a Father, a Husband and as a follower of Jesus.
This is a cynical world that will crap on something like this, but I find it nothing short of a near miracle for a film that espouses these values can get made today and then released in the fashion of a moderate budget Hollywood style movie.
This message NEEDS to soak in to our culture right now and I truly hope that many will pass it on to other Fathers and men who might be moved to action by it. This is a film I loved personally, but might not be able to defend to someone who isn't a believer and who does not know what it means to be a Father.
It is definitely a "walk in these shows" kind of a film. I laughed, I cried, I was moved, I was changed - NOT because it is such a "great" film.. but simply because inspired people are sharing the word of God with a lost culture and broken men who NEED to be inspired.
