Review of Couples Retreat (2009) by Thomas C — 24 Dec 2010
One of the most disappointing movies I've ever seen. Vince Vaughn is my favorite comedic actor, and Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau, Malin Akerman, and Kristen Bell are all talented. But this movie sucked.
There wasn't a single scene or line that was memorable or made me laugh out loud. The situational comedy the writers apparently thought was funny dragged on monotonously and left me bored. Even the dialogue between Vaughn and Favreau was dull.
The four lead male roles spent far too much time criticizing each others commitment to their wives instead of on comedic dialogue. I don't blame the actors because I think they did the best with what was written.
The writer's for this movie should do two things: Write me a check for the blu ray I purchased, and quit writing comedy.
