Review of Couples Retreat (2009) by Jessica S — 09 Oct 2010
There are a few chuckles to be had here and there (especially the â??energy positionsâ?? scene) and the Equilibria, disequilibria and a new equilibrium straight forward narrative isnâ??t bad. Like all rom-coms the narrative unfolds serious moral messages in a casual way.
The movie balances its attracted audience suitably with both feminine and masculine parts and specific detail has been involved in creating the characters, whereby interesting similarities and differences have been used.
For example friendship and the characters relationships mean more than the Eden course they are on. From a media perspective one canâ??t but help being aware of product placement within the movie, that of Guitar Hero and Starbucks being mentioned.
Perhaps incorporating commercialization within the movie has helped fund it to some degree? The locations are beautiful and indoor sets cleverly disguised as being outdoor. Overall not a bad watch.
