Review of Couples Retreat (2009) by Rainer K — 05 Mar 2012
Sometimes I wonder how you can screw up certain things.
Couples Retreat has the perfect cast for such a film in place - three hot wives (Malin Akerman, Kristen Bell, Kristin Davis), three comedy stars (Jason Bateman, Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau) and a black guy plus Jean Reno as some type of guru. Moreover, the idea behind all this is not that bad and the different couples are likable and not too stereotypical.
But if you still manage to just copy and paste vignettes from better comedies together wihtout any esprit that makes it a hopelessly flawed and boring film.
That was so uninspired - I haven't found one single scene enjoyable until this great Guitar Hero battle.
The conclusion is also, let's face it, crap - I mean, I could write a more elegant ending that's not as terribly rushed.
Silly but not funny. SKIP IT for god's sake.
