The movie actually had some good parts. Garrett Hedlund (Beau) was the best, he sang incredibly & actually cared more for Kelly (Gwyneth) than her husband (McGraw). If I wasn't for him, the movie would have been extra boring.

McGraw portrayed her husband ok, but the movie didn't go into both them resolving their issues - pain of losing a child, drinking & drugs, it only focused on him driving her to sing, taking her out of rehab, which ultimately lead to her committing suicide because she couldn't take it anymore.

Beau was the only one who really cared for her, even broke down the door to see if she was ok, and found her passed out.
