Review of Country Strong (2010) by Kieran K — 06 Jun 2012
Really bad. I don't know what they were thinking when they made it. I can understand that Garrett Hedlund and Leighton Meester took the roles. Leighton hasn't been in many roles and this could help show that she can actually sing, since she's into singing too. Garrett hasn't made that many movies either. But did Gwyneth really need this one in her filmography? She can choose, she can do WAY better than this.
The plot is boring. You know what's gonna happen from the beginning. Her husband just wants her to make money. She doesn't have a personality so she does what she's told, as if she were 5 years old. She's having an affair with Beau and the husband will probably have sex with Chiles. She's still an alcoholic so she won't be able to sing... until the last concert, OF COURSE. It doesn't get more predictable.
And the thing is, the songs aren't really that good. They're not even average, they're actually... bad. So, why watch it, then? Cause Beau and Chiles are funny. Sometimes. Well, okay, I admit it. The only thing worth watching is Garrett Hedlund and his beard... and chest hair. And him wet.
So unless you are a big fan of Garrett/Leighton, it's ridiculous to watch this. Hannah Montana The Movie is better than this.
