Review of Cosmopolis (2012) by Mike R — 11 Jan 2013
I have to start this review with this statement: I underestimated and overestimated this movie at the same time. I believed this movie was going to be the philosophical movie I love, I thought it was going to have the same themes as Drive.
The concept was amazing, A rich Billionaire pondering life and luxury. It was gonna be a ride of ideology and philosophy, and it was...but it was WAY to much of a ride. All of this may sound bad and you may be wondering why I gave it four stars.
Well that is because it is a great movie. I wanted a movie of philosophy and I got it, but one thing I didn't like was the fact that it was more based on philosophy then the story. There were many parts of the movie where I was confused.
and I underestimated the philosophy part and overestimated the story. But there was one thing I liked, no loved, and that was Robert Paterson's character. I did not care for anyone else, but I was amused by Eric Packer, he was intriguing and questioning the world, and I loved that.
Though this movie isn't for everyone, I loved it because it had everything I hoped for, even if it was a little illogical and bizarre.
