Review of Cosmopolis (2012) by David S — 26 Jan 2013
Cosmopolis tries really hard to be a David Lynch film and ascend itself onto a philosophical level. However, in its attempt, it is played with half-beat actors plainly reciting their lines, and a story that constantly leaves elements untouched and unwrapped.
The film is absurd and swanky, and although it can be somewhat easily understood, enjoyment is extremely difficult. David Cronenberg shows once again that he is able to create melodramatics of the simple and complicate the intriguing into a mess of pretentiousness.
