Review of Cosmopolis (2012) by Roxanne R — 28 Jan 2013
This is a cerebral film which requires close scrutiny and attention to the dialogue. Typical of David Cronenberg, seems surreal at times. For those that like plenty of action and suspense then you most likely will NOT enjoy this one.
Manhattan billionaire Eric Packer (Robert Pattinson) is determined to get a haircut from his father's old barber but his quest is complicated by the presidential motorcade, a gang of violent anarchists, and a funeral procession for a famous hip-hop star.
Meanwhile, Packer's fortune rests on the value of the yuan, which he continually monitors from the comfort of his stretch limo. Maybe I speak only for myself but I think financial folks will like this one- many financial terms are addressed in this film and makes for interesting coversation amongst Wall Street crowd.
Moreover I found Cosmopolis to be a moral tale about money and its impact on various types of personalities. Recommended!
