This is a beautifully composed film that is unsettling but also enchanting. Its downfall is that it can only imagine various degrees of an unhappy childhood. The audience is sent through a frightening journey that is full of magic, but the magic never translates into happiness or transformation for Coraline.
Only acceptance.
