Review of Coraline (2009) by Panayiotis D — 18 Nov 2012
This is an animated ART movie using stop-motion techniques. It's not the usual animated/comics stuff, it's more on the horror genre and it's targeted mostly at older children or adults. While it does bring Gaiman's Hugo winning novella beatufily on the screen I found that I could not connect entirely to the storyline, maybe it was too "American" for me :-).
Highlights.
- The stop motion technique. Would love to see Kthuly mythology material done like this as Roger Egbert suggested, would be awesome.
- The pace and the horror aspects.
Letdowns.
- The storyline.
