Review of Copycat (1995) by Matt P — 03 Oct 2007
I thought this movie was pretty clever. Like a thrilling thesis on what we should REALLY do with serial killers. There has been a debate about whether to execute them immediately or to study them for some time.
The movie presents the serial killer as a kind of virus and that allowing them to live we invite them the spread their wicked legacy and inspire others to follow in their serial killer greatness, and it does this well.
Sigourney Weaver is fabulous in this movie. She is the essense of a woman haunted by the nightmare she helped to create by sensationalizing them. I don't agree with the synopsis given by flixster movies, it doesn't lose any steam.
This movie is pretty good. Pick it up if you get the chance.
