Review of Copycat (1995) by Andy G — 16 Aug 2013
This movie is masterful. It's chilling and intriguing. I love that the entire film follows the blueprint of serial killers ending with the staging of the incident that began the film.
Se7en and Copycat are amazing thrillers in their own rights, similar only in that they are thrillers. Copycat is the story of a woman who is attacked in brutal fashion only to survive and become a shut-in agoraphobic. One year later, she begins to see what police cannot as murders occur all over the city, there is a copycat taking inspiration from DeSalvo, Bundy, The Hillside stranglers, and Berkowitz. What no one can foresee is that the spree is to end with the recreation of the original attack and it's grand orchestrator sits behind bars.
It's a great screenplay as I loathe the formulaic films we get now.
