Review of Cop Land (1997) by Brad G — 23 Nov 2010
"No One is Above the Law." With Cop Land, Slyvester Stallone gives his best performance since First Blood. This modern day Western pits Sly's pathetically meek Sheriff against Harvey Keitel's viciously corrupt NYPD cock-of-the-walk and after a gritty, slow burn tale it all climaxes with a shoot out worthy of the OK Corral.
Easily one of the most underrated films of the 1990s, Cop Land also manages to have several fine performances from vets like Robert De Niro, Ray Liotta, and Robert Patrick. Don't let this one slip you by.
