Review of Cop Land (1997) by Paul D — 16 Feb 2013
Love this movie. Stallone reminds everyone why he became a star. Dude can act. Why he doesn't do this more often I don't know. Rocky Balboa was a good recent example of Sly's skills. Putting DeNiro and Keitel together, even if they don't share much screen time, is always a good idea. Especially still in their prime. Surround them with explosive performances from Ray Liotta and Robert Patrick and this is a Dream Cast that delivers on Magnold's great script. Here's where I'm confused, The Critics got it right with the 72%, what the hell happened Audience? 58?!?!? Usually the popcorn bucket % is higher but did they see the right movie? Watch it again on Blu-Ray, trust me.
Side Note: I just unwittingly had a James Mangold Double feature which this the day after I watched Oliver and Company with my Goddaughter. After those two flicks, Gotta say looking forward to The Wolverine.
