Review of Cop Land (1997) by Marty F — 27 Jun 2009
I had a bit of a tough time rating this movie. Is it a masterpiece? No. Not really. What it is is an extremely realistic and wholly realised drama. I think everyone's outside their comfort zone here, especially Stallone.
Admittedly, I'm a big Sly fan and I loved so much that he was a complete foil of his usual movie self. Great performances overall, too. Nothing over the top or hammy. I think the best thing that can be said for it is that it's a refreshing change of pace from the usual cop fare.
