Review of Cop Car (2015) by Myles S — 26 Aug 2015
Cop Car is one of those films that could have been a top notch thriller, but instead it becomes a disappointment after a great set up. Basically, two runaway kids stumble across a sheriff's car and decide to take it for a joy ride, but what they don't know is that the sheriff needs his car back and he will do anything to get it.
Kevin Bacon does a fine job playing the disgruntled sheriff and the filmmakers do an excellent job creating a tense atmosphere for the viewers. However, a great set up isn't worth two cents if the follow through can't deliver the goods.
Cop Car loses it's balance about halfway through due to lack of storytelling and poor pacing. The best parts of the film can be found during the first 30-45 minutes, but soon after that, a good performance from Bacon is wasted and we are left with just another B movie that may be worth $2.
