Review of Cop Car (2015) by Chris O — 06 Dec 2015
This is one of the most unique movies I've seen in a while, and it boasts some solid all around performances, along with a thrilling ride.
So I didn't know much about this film going into it, but that turned out to be for the best. It's really mysterious in many ways, but its also a thrilling ride that I was able to enjoy throughout. I'm also glad that the trailer didn't really spoil anything, and this movie did a great job of keeping you on the edge of your seat.
There was some really nice camerawork in this movie and there were some very nice shots. The screenplay overall was decent, but there were a few scenes that were longer than they needed to be. It felt awkward at times, and the movie's tone was a little uneven.
The acting was actually pretty good, as Kevin Bacon gives a pretty great performance here. The two kids also excelled in their roles, and the acting was overall impressive. I think the best way I can describe this movie is that it just feels really real. I feel like if people in real life were in this situation, they would react the exact same way and their behavior would be parallel to these characters. I felt like I could really follow the story clearly and it felt like I was watching real life people on screen.
In all, this movie was a solid thriller, with some great performances and a decent screenplay. It boasts a unique premise that it doesn't completely capitalize on, and the tone is somewhat uneven. There were a few scenes that dragged on longer than they needed to be, but this movie just seemed kind of real. In the end, it was decent enough to where I will give this movie a fresh rating.
