It seems Disney at that time was trying out different formulas for their sports genre, and stick to the successful ones. "Cool Runnings" has a fresh formula Disney tried out probably for the first time (I think). But what's not different is the heart they usually do. The contents of this heart is really good humor throughout with the typical rooting at the destination, and then ended warmly with the uplifting climax. (A-).
