This movie has balls, and it has spirit, and it has gorgeous cinematography (heyy Conrad Hall) and it has excitement, and it has blood and bone and Paul Newman. And it is glorious. If anyone ever feels like giving up on anything, all you need to do is watch this movie, preferably followed by On the Waterfront and Mr.

Smith Goes to Washington. All these movies share a common, beautiful, True theme: never give up, even if you're sure to fail....because if even one person, if just a small group of prisoners, continues to tell your story and remember how you kept trying even when you weren't perfect and you wanted so desperately to give in, you have absolutely succeeded.

You have become a legend, you have lived on, you have changed more than one life has the ability to. And that is why this movie is badass, not just for the great male bonding and evil guards, but because of that scene right at the very end where Dragline sits outside the church and tells the other prisoners the story of Luke's death.

It is an answer to Luke's prayer, this movie. And it is awesome. And I will now eat 50 eggs.
