Review of Cool Hand Luke (1967) by Graham J — 23 Mar 2012
"What we've got here is a failure to communicate." One of the greatest films of the 60s. A tale of one man's unbending resolve and refusal to conform to authority. Terrific performances from Paul Newman and George Kennedy.
This film boasts excellent cinematography courtesy of Conrad L. Hall. I thought Stuart Rosenberg's direction was similar in style to that of Michael Cimino's, therefore another plus point. Lalo Schifrin's punchy score is also worthy of note and complements the film very well.
