Review of Cool as Ice (1991) by Ken T — 01 Jul 2009
This movie is very ridiculous plot-wise and screenplay-wise, but it is still enjoyable to watch with a group. That is only because it is so dated and preposterous. This movie is a clear vehicle for Vanilla Ice's music, style, and lingo.
The costumes for him and his "posse" are so outrageous its laughable. The plot is some kind of mish-mash between Rebel Without a Cause, The Wild One, and A History of Violence. It tries to be too many genres at once.
Some parts are clearly played for intentional laughs, while others switch to are sappy romance, or attempt a tense action thriller vibe. Skip this if you are expecting quality. But if you want a good laugh with friends and want to gawk at early 80s pop culture, check this out.
Time to g-o.
