Review of Coogan's Bluff (1968) by Patience W — 29 Aug 2006
It's always nice to discover movies of Clint's that slipped under the radar with me during the years. Clint is still kinda playing the cowboy here but you can feel HARRY CALLIHAN coming out - although I don't remember Dirty Harry ever being this horny.
Clint trys to screw everyone in this!! I don't blame him though: 3 of the women in this I was WAITING for them to get naked. Its too bad when they don't. But in the end, i'm not watching this for nudity.
This is a great flick with a nice beating in a pool hall and a sweet motorcycle chase but this movie isn't jampacked with constant action. Who cares though!! Clint is great, Don Stroud (when he is on screen) is cool if not underused.
Lee J Cobb is good too as the loud NYC cop. If you are a fan of Clint or late 60's flciks - definately check this out. I wouldn't however, recommend this to anyone under say 25 yrs old as they would probably find it slow.
Their loss. SEE IT!! TWO THUMBS UP!!
