Review of Conviction (2010) by Melinda W — 03 Mar 2011
"One of the best, powerful & overlooked films of 2010. Hilary Swank proves once again why she's one of the best actresses today, she wasn't just portraying Betty Anne Waters, she was Betty Anne Waters. She nailed the Boston accent with ease, she damn near carried the film herself. Already 2 Oscars under her belt and I don't even know where to rank this one, this was one of her best performances. Sam Rockwell is excellent, gives yet another oscar-worthy performance which once again Academy overlooked (his performance in Moon was overlooked). Oscar nominees, Minnie Driver is great, provides most of the humor & Juliette Lewis stole her two powerful scenes especially her final scene in which I thought she should of gotten nominated. Plus, now Oscar-Winner Melissa Leo is really good in her role.
Conviction is an extraordinary true story that's shows how much both sister & brother care so much about each other that each will sacrifice one for another if something horrible happen to either. This movie should have recieved mutiple nominations (Hilary Swank, Sam Rockwell, Juliette Lewis, Adapted Screenplay) by the Oscars, this is the kind of movies the Oscars, Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards or any other award show love but somehow got overlooked anyways.".
