Review of Control (2013) by Wendy S — 04 Mar 2009
It's possible I have a disdain for a man who asks for something in life, gets it, changes his mind, later flip flops between wanting it or not, and then hurts the one who's hung on the longest.
Tragic. Ultimately your 'typical' rock lead singer story. As for the rock-bio, a great intro to Joy Division, as I really only knew a few songs and not much of the background story to Ian Curtis.
Would have liked to know more about his poetic life and how that related to his sensitive nature on stage (did he write the lyrics? Who wrote the music?).... and more coverage on the other band mates.
Didn't they have any input about his health condition, or his transient second woman? Ok, another 1/2 star for me loving the 80's and that it was artfully filmed all in B&W.
