Review of Control (2013) by Douglas R — 24 Feb 2010
I'm generally not a fan of rock biopics (the rise & fall template is a little stale by now), but this one takes a different course. You kind of have to when you're doing a film on Ian Curtis.
The actor even did a great job on imitating Curtis' odd, spastic dancing, whichthe singer did to cover up when he was having a grand mal seizure (epilepsy wasn't as well understood back then).
Great black & white cinematics, bleak london atmosphere; certainly highly recommended for any Joy Division fans (Ian Curtis could teach those annoying emo kids a thing or 2 about real pain), but also for anyone wanting to see a well-acted film.
