Review of Control (2007) by Serdar C — 28 Oct 2008
I met Joy Division in another movie, 24 Hour Party People, some time ago and I've been enjoying their music very much since then. Ian Curtis is one of the most interesting front men ever and this is a very good biopic about him. The movie is not about the group, it's about the man. It's about one of the biggest tragedies in music history. The acting by Sam Riley is hypnotic and the resemblance is incredible. It may be the best impersonation in movies, ever. Thinking the state the film has put me in, I'm very worried about the actor. The beautiful black and white colors help the movie a lot, I don't think it would make the same effect in color.
I've been wanting to see this for a long time and finally saw it on a rainy autumn morning, the perfect timing and it messed me up real good.
