Review of Control (2007) by David C — 30 Oct 2010
Not bad. Shot in black and white, the movie has a stately, silver look to it. Sam Riley is a little too polished, too good looking to make a credible Ian Curtis, yet his acting was very good. Also, Steve Coogan's Tony Wilson in "24 Hour Party People" was more lively and memorable than Craig Parkinson's version.
Overall, the movie seemed schematic and even dull at times, yet Joy Division's music was well placed throughout. Probably a must-see for any fan. Kudos to Corbjin, Ian Curtis and Joy Division are deserving of a biopic.
