Review of Control (2004) by Olli S — 28 Feb 2009
An interesting look at the tragic life of Joy Division's frontman. Was well acted: Sam Riley really seemed to channel the spirit of Ian Curtis, especially in the band performance scenes. Still, I couldn't quite sympathize with the lead.
.. might not be the actor's fault, perhaps the writer's? Or maybe I need to be a Joy Division fan to fully relate to his pain? Whatever it was, instead of feeling remorseful for his loss at the end, I was sort of annoyed.
I'm sure that's not what the filmmakers intended.
