Review of Contracted (2013) by Dianegaston — 24 Apr 2020
A few years old now, but great movie. I think a lot of people didn't get it, but my take is one of a vulnerable girl-one who no one actually ever "saw", even when she was obviously sick, including the health system (happens frequently).
The BJ character recognized that and targeted her specifically, roofied and raped her. You have to fine tune to see specifically the way she has been manipulated or let down by key figures in her life.
No one in her life is even slightly interested in who she actually is, including herself. Interestingly, in the end they are largely her targets. Smart movie, very ahead of its time. If it came out doing the "Me too" movement, it would have earned more respect.
Anyone else who claims she had willing sex with "BJ" needs to read up on what rape is in this day and time.
