Argh, missing the point, people. This is as good as Godard gets. Decidedly low key in comparison to, say, La Chinoise and Weekend. The entire exercise is a fascinating parody. Philosophy and ideas about art and film are inferred, postulated and exchanged in vain within an industry virtually dictated by the financial implications for its stakeholders.

Love, death and contempt remain unexplained and unexplored by our protagonists. Visually arresting, playfully funny and unque even among Godard's films.

This review of Contempt (1963) was written by on 16 Nov 2006.

Contempt has generally received very positive reviews.
