Review of Contempt (1963) by Cole B — 14 Oct 2008
A self-centred deconstruction of cinema, less about its audience than about its creators. Please, sweet babies--cinema should NOT be used as any of the following: landfill, a pissing contest betwixt money and talent, philosophic Yoga-ing, saying "I told you so".
Still possesses some keepworths: the meandering dialogue that details a marriage's disintegration; Palance hurling a film cannister discus; Fritz Lang drifting through all the confusion as a (not-so-egoistic) sage, pimping his own--and Louis B.
Mayer's--advice. And, sure...Bardot is hawt.
