A very interesting film. A group of scientists recieve plans to build a giant "device" from outer space. The goverment build one of these devices spending a fortune along the way. Just when they are ready to test it a terrorist destroys the devise.
The goverment being carefree with tax payers money build two devises, the second in secret. Jodie Fosters character offers to test the second device. Shes strapped into a small pod that in dropped into a giant gyroscope type thing.
When the pod hits the center she is transported to another world where she meets her father that died when she was younger. Upon returning to our world they tell her she didn't really go anywhere, the pod passed strait through.
