Review of Contact (1997) by Eddie B — 27 Aug 2011
This is my all-time favorite movie, profound in its portraying of the conflict between scientific materialism and religious conviction. Jodie Foster's acting is superb ('They should have sent a poet') and the visual and sound effects as experienced in a cinema are outstanding.
I should declare that my point-of-view is very much influenced by the fact that I am a research scientist with a PhD, and a person who has been engaged in spiritual endeavors for many years. Nevertheless, this is not merely a science fiction fantasy movie - it's much, much more.
