Review of Contact (1997) by Dyah Z — 26 Aug 2013
Magnificently genius. The visions of the space-trip are breathtaking and awfully beautiful. Really, what can I expect from a book written by the late cosmos-guru, Carl Sagan? The scenario, the conversations, the dialogues, even the 'spiritual journey' and the wormhole idea of travelling to the center of the galaxy are brilliantly written and composed.
The movie (as well as the book) tells about (wait for it) making a contact with our space neighbor that sent Earth a signal/codes to make this trillion dollars worth of transportation machine to finally 'meet' them.
The movie reminds me of Kubrick's 2001 and this is a movie that I think quite 'make sense' and relatable. So weird that the movie got a lower rating than Abram's Super 8 because, frankly, Super 8 will look like a childish pre-teen fantasy with an-alien-as-an-extra flick compares to Contact.
