Review of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972) by Sean C — 23 Apr 2009
In a way, this should have been the most fascinating of the Ape movies. Like episode 3 of the Star Wars series, all who are fans know what the eventual outcome will be. The question: how do we (they) get there? This movie, unfortunately, drops the ball in its quest.
The first half is fairly well paced. From the scene after the death of Armando, the moive switches gears and runs at an alarmingly quick pace. No time is given to adjust to the eventual revolution. The lack of budget definitely plays a roll in the film.
..it looked like the producer wanted to end it quickly in order to save some money. Too bad. It should have been better.
