Review of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972) by Jessica H — 29 Sep 2011
Something of a role reversal to the original film in this one, a lone intelligent ape in a world of cruel human masters. Again raises the moral message of the Apes sequels that perhaps man is the real animal, and this is possibly the least hamfisted way it has been delivered.
The first half establishes very well the cruel treatment of and inhuman methods used to 'condition' Apes. The second is a pretty exciting revolt. Roddy Mcdowall is great as ever. Best of the sequels up to this point, have to see the last one to properly judge.
