Review of Confidence (2003) by Nicky B — 09 Sep 2009
"style can get you killed" is the motto of this film and to be honest it is true about the success (or not for that matter) of con artist movies they either work or they don't.
Edward burns plays a classy crook and along with Rachel Weisz and others like nothing better than to con people out of there money, all it well however until they con a mule of the Kings (Dustin Hoffman) and well then they have to pull of the big con to satisfy the king and make a lot of money or do they?.
The film is as stylish as Edward Burns in a suit, with fantastic cinematography one gets a true LA feel to the film (its set in LA) problem is that is can be slow and a bit boring at times.
It is certainly a film to enjoy once (I would hate to see the dvd sales) as to the nature of the gene watching it again was tedious and uninteresting however much on marveled and the complex plot originally.
In conclusion and clever yet conventional film with a low rewatchablity enjoy it the cinema yes!, or only rent rather than buy the DVD.
